Brunei. Twelve people died and two were injured in a helicopter crash in Brunei in July. Most of those killed were officers on their way home from military training. The helicopter flew towards the capital Bandar Seri Begawan when the accident occurred. The cause of the crash was unknown and would be investigated.

In September, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s fifth daughter, Princess Hajah Hafiza Sururul Bolkiah, married state official Pengiran Haji Muhammad Ruzaini. The wedding was celebrated with a lavish banquet in the royal palace Nurul Iman, which has 1,700 rooms and is said to be the world’s largest palace. Both the princess and her husband work for the government of Brunei.
