According to politicsezine, Alberta is a Canadian province named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the 4th daughter of Queen Victoria. It is located in western Canada. Important cities include the capital, Edmonton, and Calgary.
The famous Rocky Mountains are found in Alberta and Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise are well known tourist destinations.

TIMELINE:
1670 – On May 2, the oldest Canadian (and North American) corporation, Hudson’s Bay Company, is formed, giving exclusive rights to Rupert’s Land and most of Alberta nine years later.
1754 – The first European, Anthony Henday, arrives in the province.
1837 – Two-thirds of Blackfoot Indians die of smallpox epidemic after Europeans carry the disease.
1887 – A government overturns land near Banff, creating the first national park.
1903 – On April 29, a landslide occurred in the town of Frank in the morning. Over 90 million tons of rock slid down Turtle Mountain within 100 seconds, wiping out the eastern part of the city and its coal mine. It was one of the largest rock formations in Canadian history, costing the lives of between 70-90 city dwellers, most of whom remained buried.
1905 – Alberta and Saskatchewan become provinces.
1915 – Prohibition of alcohol in Canada.
1918 – The Spanish flu hits Alberta, and a face mask is required in public.
1929 – On October 18, 5 brave women succeed in winning a lawsuit against Canadian politicians, in which women are declared “persons” in law and given the right to be elected to the Senate. You can
1932 – Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park is established by members of Rotary International from Alberta and Montana. The park is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
1977 – Filming for the ambitious film project, Superman, and also the sequel, began in March 1977 and ended in October 1978. Problems between Richard Donner and the producers resulted in filming for the sequel stopping after 75% was in the box. Read more here the whole story about the film adaptation of the film. The film was shot primarily in Alberta: Barons, Blackie (near Calgary), Calgary, Kananski Country, British Columbian Icefields, Drumheller, High River.
1981 – West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Canada, is one of the world’s largest shopping malls. It is the largest in North America, and was for many years the largest in the world, but is now surpassed by several shopping malls in China and Dubai.
1991 – FILM: Filming for ” The Merciless ” began August 26-12. November and was primarily recorded in Alberta at Longview, Brooks, Calgary, Drumheller, High River and Red Hills Ranch.
1999 – On April 28 in the city of Taber, Canada experiences its first school shooting shortly after the Columbine High Massacre in the United States. A 14-year-old boy shoots and kills one of his classmates.
2000 – A July 14 F3 tornado hits central Alberta, Pine Lake campground, killing 12 people and seriously injuring 100 people.
2002 – FILM: From June 17-6. October, the sequel to X-Men (X-Men 2) was filmed in Alberta, and the following locations in Canada: Burlington, Kananskis Country, Royal Roads, Stave Falls Powerhouse, Toronto, Vancouver Film Studios, Victoria, Winnipeg.
2005 – On June 29, massive rains created flooding in Canada, primarily in Alberta (see photos here ) and Calgary which had to evacuate 1,500 homes and before the bridge was washed away. The floods affected a total of 40,000 homes.
2005 – FILM: Filming for the movie ” The Murder of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford ” took place between August 29-10. December the following venues in Canada: Burton Cummings Theater, Fort Edmonton Park, Heritage Park, Canmore, Hidden Hills. It premiered in Denmark on November 2, 2007.
2009 – FILM. The final stage of filming for the movie ” Inception ” took place at a temporarily closed winter sports resort, Fortress Mountain Resort.
2009 – An outdoor stage collapses during the extreme thunderstorm at a Country music festival concert in Camrose in August. One person was killed and 75 wounded.
2010 – The largest dinosaur burial site to date was discovered near Hilda. They may have been victims of a monster storm that hit what was then a coastal area. The area where the fossils, which are about 76 million years old, are spread over an area of 2.3 square kilometers.
2011 – Fortress Mountain Resort once again hosts a filming with the film crew from ” The Bourne Legacy “. Watch other movies shot in Alberta here.
2011 – On May 16, an uncontrollable fire spread hundreds of miles through Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories of Canada. Read more here.
2016 – On May 5 in western Canada, a massive wildfire destroyed buildings and entire neighborhoods in the city of Fort McMurray, evacuating 88,000 residents. Read more here and here.
