So Is The Chess Board of Android after MWC 2014

We have lived a few intense days in the MWC 2014. Brands use this event to launch their top terminals or their most curious things. Not all arrive on time, in fact last year Samsung could not launch its Galaxy S4 and we had to wait. This year that have seen its launch but there have been other absentees as HTC that has not renewed yet, its One HTC.
We have also seen other interesting developments, such as the terminal Nokia Android, Huawei interesting proposals or a range of brands not as first-line that is doing quite well. Let’s see then How is the chessboard of Android after MWC 2014.

The high range is continuous

Who have arrived in time to launch their terminals star MWC 2014? Clearly two: Samsung and Sony. In fact Sony has become better than Samsung because it presented its terminal flag, the Sony Xperia Z2 on Sunday and when he officially opened the fair and we had the new terminal in exhibition. Samsung introduced its terminal, Samsung Galaxy 5, on Monday night and only what we have seen that had a pass of the press, to the great disappointment of the public in general.
The proposals from Sony and Samsung are medicamento, each one in their line. They have not dared to break with previous proposals, perhaps because they have worked pretty well and always risk remains in the hands of those who are failing to fit into the market (for example HTC last year with its One HTC).
Sony has renewed its Xperia Z1 Z2 model. We are facing a terminal physically very similar, just they are distinguished from the outside, but improvement in almost all the previous proposal: since the weight into the House, passing through the screen.
Samsung has also renewed its terminal flag slightly. Here it seems that evolution is less, since we remember that Sony currently renews its terminal star two times a year while Samsung is at the traditional rate of one a year. We are facing a terminal script girl, with a slight change of physical finish (the back) and improving certain fundamental aspects such as the camera and the software.
What is the best proposal? On the paper is some advantage of the terminal from Sony on the Samsung. Sony Xperia Z2 has more memory (3 GB to 2 GB), best camera and more battery. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is somewhat smaller and lighter (in Exchange for a screen one-tenth of an inch smaller) and its processor is a little faster (though it is the same model). Resistances of both terminals are very similar, on paper the Samsung resists better dust and the Sony better water (IP58 front IP67) but in practice both are very similar.
I have used the term “on the paper” because we have two spectacular terminals that must be analyzed in depth. And of course then there is the matter of taste, since each brand has their designs that you might like more to one or other.
From my point of view, Sony has a somewhat more sober terminal, with very classic lines that appeal to me enough. And Samsung has some unique features which can decant the balance for some, like compatibility with its accessories wereable (Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear Fit), the reader of fingerprints or Knox.

Nokia made a fork of Android

For my there is a second novelty of this fundamental MWC 2014 and we have a second fork of Android. Time only there was a company that had dared to create their own independent Google experience and was Amazon. But now Nokia are also encouraged.
Nokia launches three terminals with Android, but with a very hidden Android, more that at Amazon. Even if we see the version of the software we see that the word Android does not appear anywhere and the overall appearance approximates to Windows Phone, with a few tiles resizable (but not live).
The idea of Nokia is having a low range with many applications available (in principle no to make no change to publish the application on its applications store although of course, there are no available Google API) and the natural step to the highest range should be Windows Phone.
But sincerely I don’t understand very well this strategy. With Nokia in the hands of Microsoft licenses problem should not be an obstacle to get cheap terminals and they are dividing efforts, and much to say, making the transition from low range to high range.
Terminals in general do not have liked, he is not an Android experience to which we are accustomed, but it shows that Android is free and anyone can do its fork. We have two examples.
Now there are great doubts. First, if Nokia will launch its applications store out of their terminals, as did Amazon. Second, if there are high-end terminals. Third, if this is a strategy before a possible unfavourable decision on the purchase of Microsoft by the competition authorities and in the bedroom will have a high range. And fourth, if the purchase is consummated, would will remain these terminals? Will you receive an update to Windows Phone?
Many doubts before a rare movement of Nokia, but that, like it or not, Finally he dared with Android and we should keep them in mind in the future, especially for the price so attractive.

The phablets reach its limit

We can not forget the phablets, a concept created by Samsung and that all major manufacturers have signed up. We have seen a great evolution in the size of the devices and my question was when we would see the convergence between a mobile phone and a tablet. The time has come.
Huawei has dared with a hybrid. A device which, in principle it is a 7-inch tablet but which has reduced the frames to a minimum and has included everything you need a phone you (basically, the implementation of call).
It is true that Samsung has dared in some models of tablets to include phone and put the physical button that characterizes its smartphones, but was in a way something rough (we do this and already is). But Huawei with the MediaPad X 1 has a clear intention: having a hybrid between tablet and phone.
He has compared it in size with the iPad Mini and the Nexus 7, to demonstrate that auunque the screen is 7 inches the size is much smaller (with certain trap, since the iPad Mini is not 7 inch). And it is true, in your hands is not as cumbersome as a tablet, frames are non-existent. But, would it convince the public in general?
The truth is that once you exceed certain size on a mobile is difficult to turn back. Every time we spend more time looking at the terminal and a large screen is appreciated. To see videos of something longer than a capsule a tablet is much better and we could have a segment of the population that does not matter you have a 7 inch mobile and avoid thus having to carry two devices.
However to my I think it is too great in the hand. The boundary between mobile and tablet below 7 inches, but I like that Huawei has dared to something innovative. Do not think, that Yes, to pass from being a curiosity.

Second brands do well

Another trend that we have seen in MWC 2014 is that, apart from the major brands and the Chinese pushing strong (Huawei and ZTE), we increasingly second row terminals that have very good. And for my there is one that stands out above, Wiko.
WIKO has made an impressive display at MWC 2014, introducing four new terminals. And they do not, as many brands of second row, with a few terminals of middle and low ranges, they directly attacked the high range, with scores in the benchmarks that impress and finished premium would be blushing for some owners of terminals supposedly high end. And of course with very attractive prices.
We have been seeing very interesting proposals of these marks away from the first row, Spain is a country very prone to seek bargains in value for money, and I think that this trend is accentuated. WIKO is an example of good work and many brands will come back with very leading terminals, with good finishing and good prices. As we saw in the golden age of the clone computers, we are facing a very interesting movement in mobile telephony.
This is the playing field has been after MWC 2014. New terminals high range by Samsung and Sony, very conformism with the above. Nokia creates a fork of Android. The limits of the tablets and phones are blurred, made in Huawei. And a second row that push very strong, especially Wiko brands.
